March 8, 2023 Breakfast Meeting Notes

Today we hosted the area round of the speech contest. Maureen Polimeno introduced the 3 contestants: Dalton Lylvk from Lincooln-Woodstock, Chloe Jenness from Newfound, and Lily O’Brien from Plymouth. We had 3 judges, one each from the 3 clubs, and Omer served as timekeeper. The topic for this year is “Why is Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion so Important?” Tony did trivia (Heroes, Villains, and Unique people of the Granite State) while the judges were tabulating their scores.

The contest results:  Dalton was the runner-up, while Lily and Chloe tied for winner and will receive the same prize. Thanks to all for their inspiring presentations!

Updates from the other clubs:  Bristol just wrapped up their senior luncheon and bingo game. They are looking to do a community-wide cleanup day, especially to help seniors. They are also holding a Penny sale and use it to support scholarships.

Lincoln/Woodstock: They are growing, having added 5 new members this year. They have donated $5000 to Turkish relief and have been donating to Ukraine.

Common man for Ukraine update: We have another $7K in last week by mail. We will be doing another Fisher Cats fundraiser this June. Steve and Alex will be making their fifth trip to Poland next month.

Peggy announced that we will take down the garland on the common this Saturday at 9 am. NOTE; Shortly after the meeting, Braden sent around an email indicating that he and Peggy had decided to postpone this event until the following Saturday, March 18.

Rabies clinic: 32 animals were vaccinated in a snowstorm! Thanks to all who attended.

Respectfully submitted,
